Head of Technical Operations

The role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Technical Operations who provides vision and leads technical operations in a way that operations and quality targets are met with strong business focus.  You will lead a strong Technical Operations team, and establish and drive overall technical operations strategy that will help deliver the best customer experience fuelling business growth.

The selected candidate will be reporting to Director of Infrastructure. 

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains the vision for technical operations in consultation and collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Develops technical operations strategy and supporting roadmaps identifying staff, tools and support requirements to ensure that operational and support processes are working as expected to support the organisation
  • Prepares sound business plans, budgets and forecasts
  • Ensures uptime, stability and capacity in a high-volume 24/7 transaction environment
  • Works in an agile and fast moving development environment
  • Works with other groups within the organisation, and with key customers and suppliers, to understand their unique service delivery challenges and needs and develop plans and strategies to meet these expectations
  • Ensures that all technical operations’ processes and activities are communicated and coordinated internally and across units, supporting the organisation’s overall plan and objectives
  • Provides management with accurate and timely information necessary to make strategic, investment and operating decisions
  • Manages and prepares project cost analysis and vendor assessments to ensure robust decision making processes when it comes to vendor selection
  • Works closely with Betsson procurement team for procurement related to IT infrastructure including technological equipment, software, tools and services as applicable
  • Oversees the management and leadership of technical operations staff including hiring and training of employees, planning and directing work, appraising performances, addressing grievances and resolving problems
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • BS Degree in MIS/Computer science or equivalent experience with 8+ years in a highly complex, dynamic IT environment with leadership responsibilities
  • Working knowledge and demonstrable experience in Information Technology Service Management (ITSM)
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in IT operations/infrastructure and customer application support
  • Demonstrated experience in transforming teams through process improvement, people management, performance management, realignment and hiring to achieve higher performance levels
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed, and attentive to detail with ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in pressure environment
  • Experience in managing large-scale enterprise infrastructure along with a deep understanding of business continuity planning
  • Demonstrates thought leadership in cloud technologies across multiple disciplines including infrastructure and operations, security and automation
  • Experience with data centers management, storage, backup and recovery, and management of virtualization environments
  • Experience of managing suppliers in outsourcing contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent initiatives and drive projects to completion
  • Or any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the ability to accomplish the essential functions of the position
