Betsson Group wins 3 Awards at the EGR Nordics Awards 2021

Betsson Group has been crowned as the 2021 Operator of the Year, the 2021 Customer Services Operator of the Year, and the 2021 Mobile Operator of the Year.

Last evening we attended The EGR Nordics Awards 2021 which celebrate the most successful and innovative online gaming companies operating in the Nordic region. The awards are usually held in Malta but due to the current situation, the event was held virtually.

These awards recognise the operators that stand out in what is an extremely competitive market. The judges look at commercial success, game-changing innovation, leading customer service, or marketing prowess and award those companies which have truly succeeded. The voting process of these awards was officiated by Deloitte that ensures that the judging process is completely transparent, and the winners clearly demonstrate the innovation and commercial success required to be rewarded with this honour.


The most coveted award of the evening was the ‘Operator of the Year‘ which Betsson Group has won. This award recognises Betsson as the operator that has set the standards for others to follow in the Nordics region over the past year. The judges awarded a company that has acted as a driving force for innovation in the region across all areas of the business and the winning operator had to demonstrate a market-leading proposition. Judges also recognised how Betsson Group has clearly differentiated itself from the chasing pack in its sector, through a mixture of growth, innovation, and strong product performance in one or more of the key verticals. When selecting Betsson Group as the winning Operator for the top prize at the EGR Nordics 2021, the judges said:

“Betsson is doing everything right at the moment. They are impossible to ignore or miss, and the statistics prove it. Their growth is impressive and speaks for itself. As a giant on the Swedish market, they have taken additional steps by launching products that are innovative, exciting, and inclusive. Their marketing is relevant and not only have they successfully identified their customer base, but they have also made their collaborations into “happenings” that engage the players in a tremendously fun and interactive way. Bravo, Betsson”


Betsson Group has also, for the sixth consecutive year, won the all-important, ‘Customer Service Operator of the Year‘. The EGR Nordics awards have started taking place in 2016 and since then, Betsson Group has been the winner of this category – all six years. This award recognises Betsson Group as the operator that has best demonstrated that it truly has the customer at the heart of its business, and manages its resources to continuously improve its performance standards ensuring it can meet the needs of its entire customer base. Some of the key criteria that judges analysed were staff engagement in customer satisfaction strategy, continual training and development, continual measurement, competitive advantage, and the impact on retention. When choosing Betsson Group as the receiver of this award for the sixth year running, the judges said:

“Clever blend of traditional customer service and cutting edge technology that resonates well with customers”.

“Excellent submission by Betsson, clearly outlining the user journey and support process”


Another increasingly important award category was the ‘Mobile Operator of the Year‘. Contestants for this category included a number of operators who base their whole strategy on being mobile-first, so winning this award is a genuine confirmation that when compared to our peers, Betsson Group stands out and is leading the pack within mobile and tablet real-money gambling. Judges looked for evidence of innovation, growth, and the quality of product and service and gave special consideration to operators with a well-integrated portfolio or products across iOS, Android, and mobile web on both smartphone and tablet platforms. When awarding Betsson Group as the Mobile Operator of the Year, the judges said:

– “The statistics provided by Betsson are impressive and the steady growth demands an overall higher score”

– “High focus on mobile and a very strong product”



In February 2021, Betsson Group also won the Casinomeister Awards for the ‘Best Casino Group of 2020’. This is not the first time that Betsson Group has been awarded as ‘Customer Service Operator of the Year’, and ‘Mobile Operator of the Year’ at the same award ceremony. The latest was in November 2020 at the EGR Operator Awards where Betsson won four awards.
