Legal & Compliance

The Legal Affairs Division takes responsibility for drafting and negotiating contracts which are to be entered into by the Betsson Group subsidiaries. Legal Counsels also manage all claims and legal proceedings and Intellectual Property. The Compliance and Regulatory Division is responsible for the application and maintenance of licences in various countries as well as support to the business on the dos and don’ts in the different markets. Management of regulatory claims and proceedings also sits with this department. Another section within the Legal and Compliance Division is specifically dedicated to data privacy, to ensure that all of Betsson Group’s business is conducted in accordance with relevant rules in this field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The legal department is divided into three tracks: legal, compliance and data privacy.

COMPLIANCE AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS

The Compliance team, supported further by Regulatory Affairs works with the various sector specific laws that affect our business. The team members maintain good relations with all regulators and work closely with the different operational and commercial teams to ensure that our gaming offers adhere to marketing, AML and responsible gaming requirements, amongst others. The Regulatory Affairs arm also follows international political and legal developments in the field.

LEGAL AFFAIRS

The legal team consists of lawyers that function as gatekeepers when it comes to all contracts. Every purchase, service or undertaking must be supported by contracts that go through legal review. Following court proceedings is another function of this team, which often includes liaising with external specialist counsel. Legal counsels also support and manage the Group’s intellectual property portfolio and generally advise the business on all legal questions.

DATA PRIVACY

The Data Privacy team members are in charge of advising the business, including their fellow legal and compliance colleagues to ensure that the personal data of all our customers and employees is handled in accordance with relevant law. This includes having the right policies and processes in place, maintaining a clear picture of all personal data which flows through the different systems and following legal developments in the area.
